Join the Switzer-Carty team, where our success is rooted in our people! We’re looking for Full-Time Certified Driving Instructors (CDIs) to support our Eastern Ontario branches by upholding our safety standards and contributing to our positive company culture.

Purpose

Reporting to the Regional Safety Manager (RSM), the Full-Time Certified Driving Instructor (CDI) will assist with training new employees to meet the safety standards expected by the company. The CDI ensures that trainees are qualified and fulfill all requirements to become competent school bus drivers who integrate well into the company culture. Additionally, this role is responsible for administering company safety policies, processes, and guidelines, aligning them with the regulations and laws set forth by the Highway Traffic Act and the Ministry of Transportation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Train, coach, and develop new employees to meet company safety standards and become competent school bus drivers.
  • Maintain accurate records of training and driver programs.
  • Drive school routes as needed.
  • Perform Behind the Wheel training.
  • Assist in coaching/training Driving Instructors in Training.
  • Build strong relationships with drivers and Branch Managers.
  • Support RSM in developing and delivery of Safety workshops, annual seminar, school and community safety awareness programs and overall company training directives.
  • Participation in the Joint Health and Safety of the work force.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma + Professional Instructor In Driver Education (P.R.I.D.E.) Certified
  • At least 3 years of school bus driving experience with a Class B license.
  • Sound knowledge of the Highway Traffic Act and Ministry of Transportation Regulations.
  • Clean driver’s abstract with Superior driving skills.
  • Flexibility in working hours and location.
  • Reliable transportation.
